The sanctuary was founded in 1970’s when Jock and Betty Leslie Melville first adopted an orphaned Rothschild’s giraffe known as Dasiy. Then Tanya and Mikey Carr-Hartley bought the manor in April 2009. And since from that time it has become a globally recognized hotel. Today, Giraffe Manor offers visitors an experience unlike any other on earth – they can see live giraffes, and as well participate in feeding them without having to go on a safari.
Giraffe Manor’s mission is to protect endangered animals like warthogs, bushbucks, dik-diks more than 180 bird species, while educating visitors about conservation and the natural world through their unique, immersive experience.”Giraffe Manor is the first of its kind in the world. And is equipped with state-of-the-art conservation technology, offering a 360° view of the animals on our property.”Visitors can explore a 10 acre African savanna, and enjoy giraffes nibbling from trees and playing with their friend, feeding them and among others.
The outdoor play area caters to children of all ages who come to enjoy the interactive experiences Giraffe Manor was founded in 2009 by founder and president, the giraffe center was purposely to allow the Kenyan school children to feed giraffes up close as they learn about conservation and ecology.

When you arrive at the sanctuary in the morning around 7am, you are finally allowed into the enclosure with our guide. Another thing that struck you is how weird it feels being surrounded by these animals – they are so much bigger than you could ever imagine. It’s a better and the magical way of taking lots of photos of them, as it can be really cool being right in the middle of their natural habitat.

The sanctuary is open to visitors from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday and from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM on weekends. You can also call ahead for a reservation or visit them on your own during their open hours.
