The best time to visit Kenya for a safari
Game viewing in kenya is always the best and handsomely rewarding during the dry season, during the wet seasons most of the lodges and camp are being closed that is the months of November, April and May. This is the time that most of the camps and lodges consider doing their renovation work, though in most cases the weather patterns in Kenya are very unpredictable. Sometimes December to March can experience rains slight or moderate rains . The coast of Kenya has its own different set of climate but it is generally the best place to visit from the month of October to March.
In Kenya the temperatures and the humidity during the day vary according to the altitude but it is simply warm throughout the year. The average day temperatures in Kenya is 28°C but it may slightly increase higher during the dry months especially from October to March. At Night too the temperatures vary with altitude but through out the county except in Mount Kenya and the regions around Aberdare Highlands ,the temperatures rarely falls below 10°c.
At the Kenyan coast ,temperature are very high throughout the year averaging 30°C. The best favourable conditions are from October to April, it is during this time that the Kaskazi wind blows gently from North-East. This is the best because of the humidity condition around the coast. In May to September the Kuzi monsoon wind blows from south -East ,this time snorkelling and Diving is being restricted.
The greatest migration of the wildebeest and Zebra in the Maasai mara is from Mid-July to late October.

Kenya is known for its wonderful Big cat, Maasai Mara became famous when the BBC Big Cat Diary was aired. Other places where the big cats can be seen include Samburu National Park, Lake Nakuru National park, The Mathew Range known for leopards, Amboseli National park and Lewa conservancy both of these parks are known for their Cheetahs. The best places to view all the Big cats are in the Maasai Mara National Reserve.
In Amboseli National park, Samburu and The Mathews Range are well known and excellent for elephant viewing. A more detailed and exclusive elephant safari can be done at one camp in Samburu which is close to the Mathews Range in the southern and the excellent Ruteti Elephant Orphanage and the other being Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage in Nairobi.
Black and White Rhinoceros can be seen in Lake Nakuru National park which is found in the Great Rift valley and on Lewa Downs, Solio and Ol Pejeta Conservancies in Laikipia region. In this conservancies it is possible to do some rhino tracking activities.
Other regions in the Northern and Central Kenya Safaris is home to various common mammals sub species such as gerenuk, Beisa oryx , Lesser kudu, Grevy’s Zebra, Lesser kudu and reticulated giraffe among other animals. In the Laikipia region you will be able to spot the rarely seen African wild dog.
Maasai Mara is considered the first class wildlife area in the world with incredible wildlife. The plains of this National reserve is being dominated by zebras ,Antelopes and wildebeest. It is here at Maasai Mara where you will see plenty of Eland ,the largest antelope together with other Big animals such as Buffaloes, Hippopotamus, Giraffes, Elephants and Rhinoceros. Some of the predators are Lions , crocodiles, Hyenas, Cheetahs, and Leopards. Other common animals in the park include, Topi, Zebras, Dik-Dik , Duiker, Bushbuck, Impala, Waterbuck and Kudus. Some species include serval cats, Caracals, Aardwolf, side-stripped jackal, Baboon, Monkey , warthogs, bat-eared fox and large variety of mongoose.
The main wildlife highlight in Kenya is the Annual Greatest migration of wildebeest, zebras and Antelopes. The breath-taking and spectacular scenery is when the animals are crossing the crocodiles infested Mara and Talek Rivers.
In kenya there are over 1100 species which makes it superb for birding in its different habitats. Some of the migratory birds can be seen during the months of October to March. Greater and Lesser Flamingos can be seen and migrate between the Rift Valley lakes throughout the year.
