 Detailed itinerary of 5 days Masai Mara and Amboseli Safari

DAY 1: Transfer from Nairobi city for Amboseli national park

To start the safari, will be picked from your hotel in Nairobi  after early morning breakfast you will be picked up by your safari guide who will brief you about the Kenya safari then embark on your journey to Amboseli national park. From Nairobi town it is a drive of 222 kilometers driving through Namanga town at Kenya-Tanzania border, you get to Amboseli national park in time for lunch.

After lunch you will go for an afternoon game drive in the plains of Amboseli, while driving through the park you get to view many animals such as African elephant, buffalo, impala, lion, cheetah, hyena, giraffes, zebra, wildebeest, Thomson’s gazelle, Burchell’s zebra and many more. Animals in Amboseli national park are best spotted at the observation hill, after the game drive you will drive back to your lodge, freshen up, have dinner and stay overnight stay at AA Amboseli Lodge or equivalent.

DAY 2: Full day game drive in Amboseli national park

Have morning breakfast and head to the park for a full day of exploring various regions of the park, on this day you will wake up early for morning game drive. Early morning game drive is a great chance for you to view many animals such as African elephant, buffalo, impala, lion, cheetah, hyena, giraffes, zebra, wildebeest, Thomson’s gazelle, Burchell’s zebra before they disperse in the park. After the morning game drive you will turn to your lodge for breakfast, after breakfast you will chill at the lodge up to afternoon or opt for a nature walk in the park. In the afternoon you go for an afternoon game drive where you will watch animals you might have missed on the morning game drive. After the game drive you will drive back to your lodge, freshen up, have dinner and overnight as above.

DAY 3: Transfer from Amboseli national park to Masai Mara national reserve

Have morning breakfast, checkout of your lodge and embark on a journey to Masai Mara national reserve,  from Amboseli national park it is a distance 517 kilometers take approximately 9-10 hours of drive, on your way you have a stopover in Narok town for lunch in case you never packed lunch then proceed to the park. You are to arrive in Masai Mara national reserve late in the afternoon and you will not do anything other than checking in to your lodge, freshen up, relax, have dinner and stay overnight at AA Mara Lodge or equivalent.

DAY 4: Full day game drive in Masai Mara national reserve

Wake up early for breakfast and head to the plains of Masai Mara for a full day game drive. Masai Mara national park is a great habitant for many animals which are easily spotted while driving through the park such as lions, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, giraffe, wildebeests, zebras, buffalo, warthogs, hyenas, jackals, wild dogs, buffalo, leopard, many kinds of antelopes, elephants and many more. You may choose to have an optional hot air balloon safari.

Day 5: drive from Masai Mara national reserve back to Nairobi

 After breakfast, you will exit the reserve with en-route game drive as you embark on a drive back to Nairobi, from Nairobi to Masai mara it is a drive of 5-6 hours and on your way you will have a stopover in Narok town for lunch. You are expected to reach Nairobi in the evening and when you reach, you will have a drop of either at your hotel or at the airport marking the end of your Kenya safari.
