Egerton castle is a house with the elegant style like a fortress that is located 14km outside Nakuru Kenya off Nairobi- Nakuru highway that is 3 km from Nakuru town. That was constructed by Lord Egerton in 1938.The Egerton Castle has got 53 rooms that gives you the history of the gone days as you admire the beauty of the castle. The castle is among the beautiful attractions in Nakuru where various tourists explores the castle because of its unique story and beauty.
Egerton Castle is the most attractive destination in Nakuru that was constructed with only the imported materials that was during 1938 and 1954 as the castle took probably 10 years to be completely constructed due to the world war 11 that disturbed the transportation of the construction materials and hence resulted into the delay of the construction in the castle.

Story about the Egerton Castle.
Egerton castle was completed and constructed in 1954, when Lord Egerton was living in the castle until his death in 1958. The castle was called the ‘’castle without a prince’’ by the community people since the castle was un occupied when Lord Egerton died.
This came up when Egerton Lord had constructed to excite his fiancé whom he wanted to marry but the lady had turned his marriage down, because Lord Egerton had got the small house of which his fiancé did not like so he had to construct to marry her but still everything failed.
Lord Egerton in the process of constructing, he had to buy land in Nakuru during the period of colonial period, where he constructed a small house with two rooms where his fiancé did not like. And built the second one with four rooms still his fiancé did not totally admire it. During the period when Lord Egerton was in his second house requested his fiancé to come with him in the house but where she refused while calling the Lord Egerton’s house the house of the chicken.
That’s why Lord Egerton came up with the idea of constructing a castle that would impress his fiancé, after its construction, when it was presented to his fiancé guess what the fiancé called the castle the museum, this discouraged Lord Egerton and led him to stay alone in his castle until his death due to chest complications.
Lord Egerton from the big disappointment got the strange feeling and disliked the women hence never married in his lifetime and never allowed any woman to enter his castle. And to go further around his castle had the sign posts saying that ‘’woman who approaches the castle would be shot’’.
Most of the tourists on a Kenya safari are attracted to this destination because of the unique story of Lord Egerton to experience the castle and witness themselves the first hand of the wonderful mansion in Kenya.
It was opened in 2005 to the public, and at the moment the castle is the amazing destination for the weddings, cocktails, corporate events and among others with an amazing serene environment, well maintained flower gardens that are attractive to everyone who explores the place.

Visiting Lord Egerton castle is adults/guest pay 150 Ksh, 75 Ksh for children for the East African Kenyans. Residents pay Adults 450 ksh. Then Non-Residents pay 12 USD adults.
