Nairobi National Park fees for 2026 are the conservation and entry charges collected by the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) for visitors entering Nairobi National Park. The amount you pay depends on whether you are an East African citizen, Kenya resident, African citizen or non-resident, as well as the age of the visitor.
If you are planning a game drive, safari or short wildlife visit from Nairobi, understanding the Nairobi National Park entrance fees is important because the park entry charge is only one part of the possible cost of your visit.

Nairobi National Park Vehicle Fees
The Nairobi National Park vehicle fee is separate from the individual visitor entrance fee. Therefore, if you are travelling in your own vehicle or arranging a safari vehicle, you should consider both the visitor entry charges and the applicable vehicle charge.
Below are the current motor vehicle charges per day, payable in Kenyan shillings:
| Vehicle capacity | Fee per day |
|---|---|
| Less than 6 seats | KSh 600 |
| 6–12 seats | KSh 1,500 |
| 13–24 seats | KSh 3,000 |
| 25–44 seats | KSh 4,500 |
| 45 seats and above | KSh 5,000 |
Aircraft Landing Fees
Visitors arriving by aircraft should also take into account the applicable aircraft landing charges.
The current aircraft charges are levied according to aircraft weight rather than the older seat-capacity system which was used in previous tariff guides.
| Aircraft weight | Landing fee |
|---|---|
| Maximum 1,500 kg | US$10 |
| 1,501–2,500 kg | US$20 |
| 2,501–5,000 kg | US$25 |
| 5,001–10,000 kg | US$40 |
| 10,001–20,000 kg | US$65 |
| 20,001–40,000 kg | US$102 |
These are the specific aircraft charges for Nairobi Park which are not uniform for all other parks.
Nairobi National Park Truck and Delivery Vehicle Fees
For trucks and delivery vehicles entering National Parks and other conservation areas managed by Kenya Wildlife Service, the current prices are applicable as below:

Nairobi National Park Special Services and Activities
The Nairobi National Park entrance fee covers access to the park, but some specially arranged activities and services may attract additional charges.
The current tariff guide includes separate charges for certain tourism activities and experiences. For example, current rates include:
- Night game drive in selected parks and reserves: KSh 3,000 / US$50 per person
- Security-guided tours: KSh 2,000 per ranger for up to four hours
- Security-guided tours exceeding four hours: KSh 4,000 per ranger
- Private horse riding in applicable parks: KSh 1,500 / US$15
- Sport fishing in applicable parks: KSh 1,500 / US$15 per line
- Cycling in applicable parks: KSh 300 / US$10
These special-activity charges are not automatically included in the standard park entrance fee and may not all apply to Nairobi National Park. Always confirm whether a particular activity is authorized and applicable to Nairobi National Park before booking it.
Are Game Drives Included in Nairobi National Park Fees?
The normal wildlife viewing experience inside Nairobi National Park does not require a separate charge simply because you are undertaking a standard game drive.
You pay the Nairobi National Park entrance fee to access the park, while the safari vehicle and other services have separate costs.
For example, a privately organized safari may involve:
- Park entrance fees
- KWS vehicle fees
- Safari vehicle hire
- Driver-guide services
- Fuel
- Accommodation, if applicable
- Food and other personal expenses
Therefore, Nairobi National Park fees should not be confused with the total cost of a Nairobi National Park safari.
You can enjoy wildlife viewing, including game drives and bird watching, while additional charges may apply to specially arranged activities or services.
For a complete overview of things to do in the park, see our guide to activities in Nairobi National Park.
Nairobi National Park Opening Hours
Nairobi National Park is generally visited during the park’s designated operating hours, and you should plan your game drive around the allowed entry and exit times. The gates open at 6:00 am and close at 7:00 pm daily. You should not plan to enter or leave the park outside the permitted operating period.
What Is Included in Nairobi National Park Fees?
The standard Nairobi National Park entrance fee provides access to the park during the applicable period of validity and allows visitors to experience the park and its normal attractions.
However, the entrance fee does not mean that every safari expense is included.
Depending on how you organize your visit, you may separately pay for:
- Safari vehicle hire
- Driver-guide services
- Vehicle entry charges
- Special activities
- Special services
- Accommodation outside or near the park
- Food and drinks
- Other privately arranged services
This distinction is particularly important when comparing a self-drive visit with an organized Nairobi National Park safari.
How Long Are Nairobi National Park Fees Valid?
A single entry fee is valid for 24 hours of continuous, uninterrupted stay inside the national park, reserve. However, you should distinguish between the validity of the conservation fee and the park’s daily operating hours.
The 24 hours do not mean that you can do game drives through the night or leave at any time. The applicable park access and operating rules remain in force.
Nairobi Safari Experience
Nairobi National Park offers a distinctive wildlife experience because it is located close to Kenya’s capital city. Visitors to the city for whatever reason can combine a Nairobi stay with a short game drive without traveling long distances.
The park is home to a variety of wildlife and bird species, making it possible to experience a wildlife safari while staying in Nairobi.
For visitors planning a wider Kenya safari, Nairobi National Park can also be incorporated into an itinerary covering other destinations and national parks. You can explore our Kenya safaris for more information about safari options.
